Course summary:
This course includes design provisions and quality requirements for glazing consisting of glass and to a limited extent, light transmitting plastics. It also addresses the design and selection of glass to withstand wind loads, snow loads, dead loads and other imposed loads. The primary purpose of this course is to provide information to establish the adequacy of glazing from the stand point of life safety and performance. The sections on glass in hand rails and guards, glazing in athletic facilities and safety glazing dictate a performance standard that will minimize risks to a level consistent with other provisions of the code.
